They’re Malaysia’s iconic pop trailblazers and no strangers to electrifying stage shows. After years of dominating the charts and evolving the local music scene, probably the most popular Malaysian brothers known as KRU made a triumphant return to the stage with the genKRU concert, held over two unforgettable nights with a third instalment coming at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil.

Thousands of fans—both longtime supporters and a new generation of listeners—filled the venue, eager to experience the legendary trio of siblings live once again.

The concert also proved that it was an international event as many fans travelled from all over the world to witness the concert. Some fans came from as far as America, Australia, the middle east and even Europe to witness the boys in action.

The atmosphere was buzzing with anticipation as the lights dimmed and KRU kicked off the show with the explosive Fanatik, setting the tone for a nostalgic yet energetic evening.

Literally putting the stage on fire, an impressive pyro display accompanied the boys, namely Norman, Yusry and Edry Abdul Halim as they got everyone singing and dancing to the infectious tune.

The crowd roared as they moved into their old hits, Malam Kita and the ground-breaking Ooh! La La, effortlessly blending early 90s nostalgia with modern production. KRU showed no signs of slowing down as they delivered fan favourites like Babe, Untukmu, and the catchy The Way We Jam, proving they’ve still got the edge and energy that made them household names.

Vocals and harmonies were on point throughout the night, especially during heartfelt ballads like Balada Hati, Di Dalam Dilema, and the special hommage to Malaysian-born and Asia’s number one perfomer Dato Sudirman Arshad’s Perpisahan Terasing, drawing cheers and even a few tears from the audience.

The group’s signature style of mixing genres was on full display in tracks like their latest masterpiece Voodoo and the crowd-pleasing Terhangat Di Pasaran where Adam their former artiste joined the boys on stage, while a series of medleys—including Bidadari & Hingga Ke Jannah, Wanita and the famous ballad Apa Saja.

They then performed numbers which they wrote for other renowned singers like the disco-like Separuh Masa by DeLima, the power ballad Sedetik Lebih by Anuar Zain and rock ballad Romancinta by MOJO before ending the medley with Ezlynn’s all too-catchy Hye Hye Bye Bye. This kept the momentum going strong.

KRU also took the opportunity to showcase Yusry’s solo single Dekat Pada Mu, and their ever-relevant anthem Negatif struck a chord in today’s fast-paced world.

Throughout the concert, the chemistry among the three brothers—Norman, Yusry, and Edry—was undeniable. Their banter, precision, and presence lit up the stage, making it feel less like a performance and more like a grand celebration with old friends.

As the night went on, fans were treated to emotional renditions when KRU’s first-ever signed girl group and Malaysian pop phenomenon from 1996, Elite made a cameo to perform the duet hit, Di Pintu Syurga with them. The audience went wild seeing the original five members of Elite taking centre stage with the boys.

The evening continued with the very sweet Dua, and a nostalgic wave of songs from their debut album way back in 1992, namely Hanya Kau and Inikah Ertinya Cinta, followed by crowd favourites Semuanya OK and the iconic Mengerti.

Of course, no KRU concert would be complete without explosive closers like One More Time, Janji Tinggal Janji, Jangan Lafazkan, and their legendary hit Awas, which had everyone on their feet, singing and dancing along one last time.

The genKRU Concert wasn’t just a walk down memory lane—it was a bold reminder of how timeless and innovative the group has always been. After decades in the industry, KRU continues to command the stage with charisma, conviction, and class.

Welcome back, KRU. And here’s to more music, more memories, and more magic.
