One of the countries I was looking forward to visiting during this endemic phase – Singapore! But, kid you not that I had my anxieties at the airport, in the flight and even just being in another country where you require using your passport! Once we landed and got to our hotel, my nerves calmed down a lot. And, it helped that we arrived late at night so the lobby of the Concorde Hotel Singapore was quiet.
The next morning, I was back to my normal self – the new normal. Waking up in Concorde Singapore which is conveniently located in Orchard Road shopping district, the first thing I did was to look out of the window. I missed Orchard Road, I missed Singapore…
Before heading down for breakfast, I took some time to appreciate the room – it was spacious. The desk cum dressing table was my focal point. It didn’t seem to me like it was of a standard size, it was also spacious. I liked that the mirror on it was huge too – we need not ‘fight’ for space to see ourselves. They even decorated the table with ornamental pottery. The room also comes with a 32-inch TV and a sofa against the over-sized window. And, you get complimentary WiFi too.
Now, we move on to the bathroom that comes with a window that looks out to the bedroom. Don’t worry there are blinds that you can lower in order to have some added privacy. The shower area was spacious too and comes with a separate shower head. Loved the toiletries provided by the hotel. The shower foam scent reminds me of a spa.
There are different types of room here at Concorde Hotel Singapore. We were on the 9th floor which is the premium floor which comes with exclusive benefits such as Complimentary Minibar (replenishable daily), evening cocktails, alcoholic beverages and snacks from 6.00pm to 8.00pm at the Premier Lounge etc. The other types of rooms available here are the Deluxe rooms, Deluxe Plus rooms, Suite, Family Room and the Presidential Suite.
Do check out the facilities offered at the hotel too – the fitness centre, swimming pool and the business centre.
I loved the lobby area which was like an open atrium lobby which felt bright and airy. Even the capsule lifts just brings so much character into the hotel. And, not like any other hotels, the lobby at Concorde Hotel Singapore had many seating options. You will be taken aback by the huge wall engraving above the reception area. It was beautiful and I am pretty sure there is a story behind that. (we will update our article should we get the story behind it)
For dining, we enjoyed our breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Spices Cafe. The buffet breakfast is available from 6:30am – 10:00am. You will definitely enjoy your breakfast as there are a wide selection of Asian and Western dishes to choose from. During lunch, Spices Cafe takes you on a journey of Peranakan dishes with their Flavours Buffet. There were too many dishes that stood out for us but if we had to choose some, it would be the Ayam Buah Keluak, Curry Laksa, Sambal Udang Petai, Otak Otak, Rojak and the assorted Nyonya Kueh. If you do love something different and unique for lunch, this is where you should bring your friends, family and colleagues to. We went for many rounds enjoying and savouring the food.
After lunch, we were treated to an interesting coffee brewing demonstration. I am not a coffee lover myself but I love the smell of coffee and the Jamaican Blue that they served is known to be refined and mild with an extremely pleasant sweetness that verges on creamy. If you had the chance, the demo is something not to be missed. For those seeking to have cocktails, mocktails or some alcoholic beverages, you can do so at the Premier Lounge from 6pm-8pm.
Dinner at Spices Cafe – Harvest of Sea Buffet comes with a fresh spread of succulent dishes. We started off with 2 lobster dishes made to order. It was absolutely sumptuous! Besides that, diners can enjoy an assortment of tastes and a range of hot dishes too. The spread will just blow your mouths off.
We definitely had a great time! Would we come back? Most definitely! Still can’t get over all the food we had, it left a mark in our memories. And, of course the location of the hotel is really strategic as it is only a short stroll away from Dhoby Ghaut and Somerset MRT stations. You are also surrounded by shopping malls.
Thank you so much for such a great hospitality and we hope to go back soon!
