Table Talk managed by Salt & Spice (International) at Dorsett Hartamas Kuala Lumpur introduced their new Chef, Chef Zazalee as their new Executive Chef as well as their scrumptious new menu.
The all-day dining restaurant had a very clean, modern and minimal interior. With it’s open kitchen concept, you pretty much can see the action going on as they prepare your food. With marble flooring and marble tabletops and counter-tops, it brings a little touch of class to the restaurant. You can opt to be seated at the high chairs with the island dining area or at the comfortable dining chairs.
We were definitely excited to try out the new menu as we were greeted by the aroma of food preparation lingering in the restaurant. We started our meals with the Pumpkin Soup – it was definitely a pretty sight as it was served in an enameled red cookware. Loved the fact that the soup had just the right amount of creamy pumpkin taste with a tinge of ginger at the end. Priced at only RM15, the soup is a steal! Our second course was the Australia Braised Beef Brisket (RM43). You know what they say about a good brisket? Brisket is a tough cut of meat, but this toughness can be counteracted with long, slow cooking which gives the chance for the abundance of connective tissue to break down and caramelize into a rich, tender meat. So, once you get a brisket which pulls apart smoothly, that is a good brisket! And, this was definitely that. The flavours just explode in your mouth and yes, it melts too. What made it even more tasty is the pumpkin mousseline and to top it off was the sauteed french beans.
Dinner of course ended with dessert and we were served with the Cripsy Banana Tempura Ring with vanilla ice cream (RM12). The banana tempura was cooked to perfection, crispy on the outside and soft in the inside and together with the pieces of fruits and ice cream, it was the right thing to end the night. The ice cream is homemade and the vanilla beans are visible so you know it comes from the original source. We managed to sit down for a bit with Chef Zazalee who hails from Penang. Chef Zazalee has more than 25 years of professional experience. He has served in reputable 5-star hotels in Europe and Asia such as The Savoy Hotel in London, Glenllo Abbey in Galway in Ireland, Radisson of Brunei, Meritus Pelangi, Langkawi and many more. He was formally trained at distinguished at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, France and was one of the guest judges on a well-known cooking show entitled MasterChef Asia.
