Temple Tree Resort Langkawi is proud to announce the appointment of Fairuz Zani Ahamad as its new Executive Chef, who will spearhead all dining initiatives at the resort.

With over 20 years of culinary experience, Chef Fairuz has seen to a revamp of the resort’s Temple Tree Restaurant & Bar as well as the introduction of a few new dining concepts sure to elevate the resort’s dining experiences.

Chef Fairuz continues to honour the resort’s spirit of providing the epitome of rustic Malay village living, restoring heritage into modern escapades with new concepts that feed into the local way of life. His new menus, dishes and dining concepts ring home the slow way of life of Malay kampungs, where indulgence is savoured leisurely, fully and unhurriedly.

Chef Fairuz says, “I hope to bring an unforgettable dining experience to all my guests through immersive food experiences, not just eating it in a hurry. It’s about savouring it, enjoying it, and creating memories. It’s about creating nutritious and delicious food, and how the environment influences that food experience.”

New from Chef Fairuz
First thing on Chef Fairuz’s agenda was to revamp Temple Tree Restaurant & Bar’s menu and its offerings of international cuisine with a peppering of local favourites. Chef Fairuz improvements on the resort’s Nyonya Laksa, Salmon Curry and Ikan Bakar that have now become signature dishes at Temple Tree Restaurant & Bar.

In addition, Chef Fairuz is proud to introduce Dining Under the Stars (RM388+ for 2 pax), a 5-course menu that can be enjoyed on a special table set up in the lush gardens of the resort or by the poolside, perfect for special celebrations or for a romantic occasion taken up a notch. Five courses comprise an amuse bouche, soup, salad appetizer main and dessert, finished off with a sky full of stars. Each menu comes inclusive of coffee, tea or a bottle of house wine.

Afternoons are enlivened at Temple Tree Resort Langkawi with an Afternoon High Tea (RM52+ for 2 pax) served from 3.30pm to 6.00pm daily. On a tall tier, local and European delicacies both sweet and savoury await to make your afternoon brighter, with items like chicken sandwiches, vegetarian spring rolls, potato samosas and curry puffs. The tea set comes with a pot of tea or coffee.

Up and Coming: Temple Tree Heritage Menu
In honouring the resort’s deep ties with the Malay heritage of Langkawi and Malaysia, Chef Fairuz has introduced a dinner menu anchored by the Temple Tree Heritage Menu that pays homage to the varying Malay cuisines of Malaysia’s different states.

Revisit the history of Melaka with the Nyonya Laksa (RM32) of yellow noodles cooked in a rich robust broth of spicy coconut milk, fragranced with chicken, shrimp, Chinese tofu and beansprouts, topped off with boiled egg, and served with a side of lime and spicy sweet sambal.

Take a trip all the way down South to Johor with the Asam Pedas (RM42) of a spicy and sour tamarind-based gravy, sweetened with braised barramundi, that promise to really whet the appetite for extra helpings of white rice, jelatah and fish crackers. The smoky flavours of Penang is represented by Mee Kuah (RM34) of yellow noodles wok-fried in a spicy shrimp potato gravy, sweetened further with shrimps, beef slices and bean curd. It is finished off with boiled egg slices and a wedge of lime.

For a taste of everything, dig in to the Dulang (RM125 for 2 pax) where a sharing platter makes for perfect “makan hidang” style of dining, comprising all the dishes from the states above. The set comes served with the full frills of white rice, jelatah, sambal and fish crackers, served seated on the floor on mats and cushions, for a true Malay dining experience.
