Starting from the 15th of last month, The Dorsett Grand Subang has been all set to be a melting pot of gourmet discovery as The Emperor Chinese Restaurant which is renowned for its handcrafted Muslim-friendly dim sum launched a selection of irresistible Shanghainese dim sum.

Whilst Cantonese dim sum is popular, Shanghainese dim sum earned its place with some truly impressive variations as well. For a start, one can never get enough of the *xialongbao*, an authentically Shanghainese specialty dumpling with meat and broth fillings inside; utterly irresistible with a side dip serving of soy sauce, vinegar and shredded ginger. On The Emperor’s menu, this specialty comes in 5 different meat fillings and the skin wrap is made from organic extract of red rice, carrot, and spinach with no added colouring nor presrvations. Per portion serving of 5 pieces is priced at RM25 nett.

Not to be missed is the Traditional Shanghai Glutinous Rice and Chicken Meat Ball which according to Dim Sum Chef Chan is a specialty that was popular some 20-30 years ago. A basket of 3 pieces is priced at RM15 nett.

A firm favourite with all is the Rice Roll with Yam Bean and Dried Shrimp at RM13 nett per plate. This is one dish that keeps you craving for more and so well suited to local Malaysians palate. Other equally mouth-watering Shanghainese dim sum include the Homemade Scallion Pancake at RM13 nett per serving; Panfried Shanghainese Chicken Bun at RM16 nett per serving of 3 pieces and the Panfried Shanghainese Dumpling at RM16 nett for 3 pieces. For a bit of spiciness, there’s the Prawn Dumpling in Chili Oil at RM18 nett.

For those who like to a sweet variation, do try the Shanghainese lotus bun with egg yolk and plum flower at RM15 nett for 3 pieces.

The Shanghainese Dim Sum is available for lunch daily from 12 noon to 2.30 pm except on Monday and Sunday.

At the same time, lovers of Noodles will not want to miss out on The Big Bowl Noodles; available daily for lunch and dinner from until 31st August 2024. Available for lunch and dinner, diners can choose from three different offerings namely Slipper lobster and seaweed with Shanghai noodles in superior soup served with generous portions of Hong Kong nai pak, sliced carrot, straw mushroom, sliced ginger and wolfberries. Priced at RM148 nett per order.

At RM128 nett per order, the Deepfried giant grouper with special vermicelli in salted vegetable soup is a definite must. This noodle comes with Hong Kong kailan that’s sweet and crunchy, sliced carrot, shimeji mushroom, sliced ginger, tomatoes and soft beancurd; with the soup giving off the right nuances of sourish sweetness taste that stimulates the appetite.

Last but not least, the biggest hit of all is the Flying noodles with deepfried water prawns and crab meat in egg white sauce. Priced at RM188 nett per order, the noodles come with crab meat, kai lan, sliced carrot and ginger and enoki mushroom with the noodles perfectly deepfried and held in place with a pair of chopsticks, henceforth the term *flying noodles*.

So, get ready for a slurping good time at The Emperor with The Big Bowl Noodles. All servings are ideal for 2-3 people, depending on how big your appetite is.
