It was a rainy Friday evening however the launch of The Coffee Academics didn’t stop the invited guests from attending the event. It was made known to us that The Coffee Academics (TCA), is a multiple award-winning specialty coffee brand and now, we can enjoy it in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. The café spans across 2,013 sqft and seamlessly integrates with the charms and vivacious essence of Kuala Lumpur’s city life, highlighting an aesthetically pleasing space.
“We are very excited to find a home within Pavilion Kuala Lumpur as our first location in Malaysia and the 40th outlet in the region. As the leading purveyor and roaster of specialty coffee, we aim to bring specialty coffee culture to new heights by brewing distinctive local experiences with global impact in mind. At TCA, we serve only specialty-grade coffee, which are directly sourced from sustainable farms globally. Our mantra, ‘Every Sip of TCA coffee is a gift of hope’ declares our commitment towards serving our guests with a mission,” assured Jennifer Liu, Founder & Chairwoman of The Coffee Academïcs.
We were delighted to be able to try some of their signature dishes. The Savoury Pancake is a 2-layered pancake topped with a sunny side egg, and side servings of German sausage, maple beef bacon, homemade baked beans, homemade berry compote and maple syrup. We really loved the way this All Day Breakfast was presented and the taste was simply delicious and on point. Next up, we tried their Umami Pasta and Tiger Prawns & Lemon Herbs Spaghetti – both had their own distinctive flavours and we couldn’t stop eating it although by now, we were pretty full. But, the tiger prawns found in both the pasta dishes was so fresh it kept us wanting more. The shio konbu, onsen egg and hints of ebiko was so flavourful that it compliments one another in the Umami Pasta dish. If you’re a fan of lemon herb sauce, then definitely the Tiger Prawns & Lemon Herbs Spaghetti won’t disappoint you. The Crispy Fish Fillet Tacos was seen going around the café non stop so we had to try it too – it was pretty yummy! And, the highlight of the dish was the fresh mango salsa. The sweetness and tanginess from it definitely elevated the flavour of the tacos and the fish was well-fried and not oily at all too! We ended our meal with the Homemade Carrot Cake – carrot cake with walnut, cinnamon and topped with cream cheese frosting.
