KolmeGlu, in partnership with HARTA, presents COLLAPSE by Gabriel Cheah from July 4th to July 27th. As an emerging ceramics, crystal and contemporary sculptural artist, Gabriel intends to transport visitors to an alternate, more calm, post-apocalyptic world. A hopeful new day develops and emerges, shaped bysculptural elements hand-moulded to the emotive pulse of his fingers, as each brushstroke
represents balance and harmony.
A sea of European crystals filled with positive energy emits happiness, highlighting several vital elements of his art practice: balance, colour, continuity, emphasis, proportion, rhythm, repetition, shape, space and texture. Gabriel aims to cement himself as a ‘happy artist’.

‘Gabriel has been making waves locally since his debut less than two years ago. Collectors have collected his work from Kuala Lumpur to Shanghai, and he has participated in many group exhibitions such as RHB Bank’s Art with Heart and, most recently, CIMB Artober Hotel Artfair 2024. His intriguing ways of incorporating his sculptural elements into his wall-mounted canvas artworks are truly a sight to see.’ says Iz Sulaini, the curator of COLLAPSE and creative director for KolmeGlu.
‘I create art to give hope’, says Gabriel. His observation of everyday human connection mainly moves his artworks. Always one who dares to try something new, he continuously embarks on making personal discoveries when it comes to experimenting with materials other than ceramics and European crystals. No matter how much he loves to explore different art forms, sculpting will always be his first love. It gave him a sense of control and freedom, elevating them through his canvas works, which always feature his signature crystal work and sculptural elements.

As the second immersive exhibition under HARTA, which stands for HABIB: Action for the Revival of our Traditions and Arts, Gabriel has also partnered with Emperor Palace, providing beautiful Italian furniture pieces that complement his canvas and sculptural works, set in a zen-like clean backdrop created by Steve Kong of Omega Project.
The experimental music and SFX heard throughout the exhibition were composed by the talented Jackson Lim who has worked with international brands like Hermes. Gabriel will also offer a free crystal
class as one of his Saturday activations during this exhibit.

COLLAPSE by Gabriel Cheah is Gabriel’s debut solo exhibition produced by Megat Ammar under the KolmeGlu Art Collective banner.
