My little family and I packed our bags for a short but much-needed getaway to Courtyard by Marriott Setia Alam.

We were booked into the Deluxe Double Room that comfortably fit the three of us. The room had two beds, plenty of space for a family, and felt modern yet cozy. Waiting for us was a little surprise — a set of chocolates that instantly made my kid’s eyes light up. From the window, we had a nice city view, just like in those postcards and the kind that makes you want to just sit back with a cup of tea and relax.

Once settled, we went exploring. The swimming pool was the first stop (no surprises there — kids and pools are always a match made in heaven). The poolside was inviting, while just a few steps away, we noticed the gym which looked bright, clean and fully equipped.

By evening, our appetites were ready for the dinner buffet at 6.30pm. The spread didn’t disappoint — there were fresh salads, hearty soups, grilled meats, seafood on ice, and a live station where the chef prepared hot dishes right in front of us.

My husband’s favourite was the roast lamb with grilled vegetables and the chicken dish while I went straight for the wide selection of appetizers and loads of lauk to choose from.

Our kid loved everything and took the opportunity to try a little bit of this and that and of course, the dessert table was his idea of heaven, cakes, tarts, ice cream selection and chocolate fondue. With the mall just across the street, we also took a short stroll afterwards to walk it all off and do a bit of shopping.

The next morning, breakfast was another treat. The buffet breakfast had everything you could want to start the day — from nasi lemak with fragrant sambal, to fluffy scrambled eggs, pastries, fresh fruits, and even made-to-order omelettes.

I enjoyed the local dishes, while my husband went international with sausages and baked beans. Our little one was happiest with mini pancakes and cereal. It felt like the perfect way to fuel up before exploring the rest of the hotel.

Before checking out, we took a look at the ballroom and meeting rooms. The spaces were elegant and well set up, perfect for events or business gatherings. It was nice to see how the hotel caters not just to families and leisure stays, but also to corporate needs.

In just 2 days and 1 night, Courtyard by Marriott Setia Alam gave us everything we wanted in a quick family getaway — comfort, good food, great facilities, and convenience with the mall right across the road. We left refreshed, full, and already talking about when we should come back.
