The trend of adopting masculine aesthetics in women’s fashion traces its roots back to “the aftermath of World War I. Driven by the scarcity of opulent and ornate fabrics, designers turned to utilitarian materials like drill, canvas, wool, cotton, and tetoron which were prevalent in military and civilian attire. Embracing the constraints of material availability, designers embarked on crafting women’s ensembles that exuded strength and sophistication.

Women’s sartorial choices now encompass tailored elements such as jackets, blazers, trousers, overalls, and vests, echoing a timeless appeal that garnered admiration since the days of Hollywood icon Marlene Dietrich

Among the repertoire of men’s garments repurposed for women’s wear are overalls, shirt and shorts ensemble, vest or waistcoat, blazers, jackets and trousers.

Expressing a masculine aesthetic extends beyond garment selection to include meticulous attention to materials and embellishments such as zippers and stitching Footwear choices, such as boots or sneakers, further accentuate the desired masculine demeanour.
