Staycation at One World Hotel

I guess I am not alone when I feel a little reluctant to travel outstation or even have a staycation. After most travelling activities was put on pause, everyone has been pretty eager to get back on the road. Even with us, as a family, we just want to escape our daily routines and enjoy some of the simple indulgences associated with getting away. At One World Hotel, we felt their effort to incorporate the latest technology and design to help guests relax and unwind, as well as enhanced measures to put guests’ health, safety and comfort first. That’s what kept me sane. And, I am pretty sure any parent would take extra precaution when it comes to their child.

Before entering your room, you would go through the Nanogate disinfection chamber. It is said to be effective to prevent against bacterial and viral agents. Though it cannot guarantee a 100% shield against the coronavirus but it makes you feel lot safer. Anyhow, once we’ve gone through that, going into the lift, we had to adhere to the SOP which was only 4 to a lift. As we were pretty hungry, we did a quick tour of our Junior Suite. And, my son was definitely blown away by the size of the suite. Both husband and I were too but we had to keep it ‘cool’ around our son. The Junior Suite is of 70 square metres and has a separate living area that comes with a work station. And yes, we got a king bed which definitely can fit all 3 of us! The interior of the room was simple yet luxurious with abstract paintings to complement the suite.

So, we hurried off for lunch at the Cinnamon Coffee House. They currently have a great All-You-Can-Eat Merdeka Lunch. It is available from Monday to Friday from 12 noon until 2:30 pm and it’s cooked to order. So, what did we order? Well, we had the Caesar Salad, Roast Beef Sandwich, Hot and Sour Soup with Crab Meat, Chicken Rice, Mutton Curry, rice and Yong Tau Fu. And, not to forget for dessert, we ordered the Bread Butter Pudding and Vanilla Ice Cream. Everything about the food was just delicious and the staff were really attentive to our needs and we noticed that they separated the seating area for walk-in guests and hotel guests.

We gobbled lunch down less than an hour and had time to relax and enjoy the suite. Our son spent most of his time in the living area as it seems to be his ‘own bedroom’ with a 50″ LED television and a huge comfy sofa all to himself. I personally loved the detailed touch that the hotel has provided with the face masks, hand sanitizers and their eco-friendliness.

Whilst the boys enjoyed the room, I had a spa treatment waiting for me at the LifeSpa by Clark Hatch which was located on level 2. I was super excited to get a spa treatment as it was 7-months too late due to the pandemic. All customers are required to shower before the massage begins. And the whole time during the massage, the masseuse had her face mask and face shield on. It was the best 1-hour massage I could ever ask for. I took a short tour of the spa as it is currently under a new management and the staff ensured me of their SOPs. So, fret not if you need a massage without any worrying, please try the LifeSpa by Clark Hatch at the One World Hotel. They have massages, facials, body scrubs and reflexology.

As soon as I arrived at the suite, an afternoon tea had just arrived in our room. We definitely felt like we were VIPs as this treatment was just what we needed after a long stay of just being home. Another thing I loved about One World Hotel was that you need to book your spot if you’d like to use the swimming pool. And, you can only use it for an hour to give way for others who’d like to swim too. So, I quickly booked for 6pm so that my son and I could have a dip before dinner. They had an adult pool and also a children’s pool with a slide! It was definitely a major treat for my son as there wasn’t anyone at the pool. After our hour was up, my son continued his ‘swim’ in the bathtub in our suite. Nothing like ending your evening with a bubble bath! And, I remembered to book another pool session for the next morning too.

As we loved our suite so much, we ordered room service and dined in for dinner. We had the Mushroom soup, Rack of Lamb and Ribeye Steak. But, do remember there is a mall next to the hotel called One Utama. It has anything and everything you could ask for. And, it is so convenient too, right?

For anyone who sleeps late or would like a night cap, you can enjoy some drinks at The Sphere Lounge located at the concourse level. It would be a great me time just to chill.

I woke up early the next morning as I wanted to hit the Clark Hatch  Fitness before swimming. The gym is well equipped with TRX, full set of weights and dumb bells, treadmills and more. Everyone had to sanitize the equipment they used before and after. After a 1-hour workout, I went back to the room and got ready for breakfast the Cinnammon Coffee House. Once again, the food didn’t disappoint us.

After resting awhile in our suite, my son and I headed to the pool as my husband had to do his online class. So, off we went for another day at the pool. This time around there were a few people there but still within the SOP of the hotel.

Before we checked out, we had to have our dim sum lunch at the Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant located on the concourse level of the hotel. Not only are their dim sums halal, they have a variety of it and the price is affordable too. We ordered quite a few dim sum along with their fried rice as our son loves rice. The portion of the fried rice is really generous and it was too delicious for us not to finish it. (we really thought we couldn’t finish it) And, never leave the restaurant without trying their dessert, especially the Lemongrass Jelly.

Although we only spent a night, it was a really good staycation as a family. We were all pleased with the hotel’s SOPs, facilities, decor, food and all their friendly and helpful staff. Everyone was really polite and attentive to all our needs. One World Hotel is currently having a fantastic room promotions – 2-night stay in the Deluxe Room at RM399 or Junior Suite* at RM499.
