This curated experience by Enrich, The Travel & Lifestyle programme of Malaysia Airlines was one I was looking forward to for weeks. It’s been a while since I flew anywhere post-pandemic as work and life just took over, so you can imagine my excitement. I’ve always loved travelling around Malaysia because we never know the little things we will get to experience.
For this escapade, I knew it would be a delightful blend of gastronomic indulgence and cultural exploration, making it an ideal getaway for those seeking to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Penang’s heritage. But, truth be told, we were fed too well that I put on 2 kilograms in the span of 4 days! Haha!

If you’re an Enrich member, you can make the most of your time by using your Enrich Points to redeem lounge passes and have your meals at the Golden Lounge. Since our flight was in the morning, we enjoyed the breakfast at Golden Lounge. I must say, it is a stylish and comfortable setting with a variety of international and local delicacies. I of course went for the Nasi Lemak. In case you didn’t know this lounge is for Enrich Gold and Platinum members, and also travellers flying Business Class.

As we reached Penang, we got into our bus towards our lunch spot – Hameediyah! And, this was when our adventure began. Hameediyah is one of Penang’s oldest and most renowned restaurants. Nestled in the heart of Georgetown, Hameediyah has been serving authentic Nasi Kandar since 1907. Guests can savor a variety of aromatic curries, flavorful rice dishes, and succulent meats, all while soaking in the historic atmosphere that surrounds this iconic eatery. Hameediyah is not just a meal; it’s a journey into the culinary history of Penang.

After a hearty lunch, we checked-in to G Hotel Penang, a modern and sophisticated accommodation that promises a relaxing retreat amidst the bustling energy of the city. It’s great for business or leisure with a great view overlooking the Straits coastline. You can book the hotel via enrichotels.com to enjoy earning or redeeming Enrich Points for stays.

G Hotel Penang is about 5-minutes walk from the Gurney Paragon. No vacation is complete without some shopping, right? So we headed to Kapten Batik at Gurney Paragon – Kapten Batik is a renowned local brand that celebrates the art of batik, offering a diverse range of contemporary and traditional batik apparel. Guests can browse through the vibrant collections, each piece telling a story of Malaysian craftsmanship and style. So, I got a nice lime green shirt for my son and the best part is you get to earn 2 Enrich Points for every RM1 spent.

After we shopped, we moved on to our next destination – dinner at China House, Penang. Located in the heart of Georgetown, China House is not just a restaurant but a cultural hub, showcasing a blend of history, art, and gastronomy. The menu boasts a fusion of flavors, from delectable local dishes to international delights. The eclectic ambiance, with its charming courtyard and art-filled spaces, provides the perfect backdrop for a relaxed and indulgent evening. Such a great way to end our evening.

The next day, our adventure kicked off with us heading to Penang Hill. We ascended the hill via the iconic Penang Hill Funicular Railway, and enjoyed the lush greenery and cool breezes along the way. At the summit, we explored The Habitat, an ecological park showcasing the island’s biodiversity through its treetop walkways and nature trails. You can even book this kind of trips via the Enrich Xperience and earn 1 Enrich Point for every RM2 spent.

For a gastronomic interlude, Enrich Media’s itinerary took us to the China Muslim Restaurant, a culinary gem in the heart of Penang. Renowned for its delectable halal Chinese cuisine, this restaurant offers a diverse menu featuring flavorsome dishes that cater to various palates. Savor the culinary artistry while soaking in the ambiance of this establishment, making it the perfect pit-stop before the next adventure.

The modern amenities, impeccable service, and breathtaking views ensure a perfect sanctuary for relaxation.
